Meet Our keynote speakers
Lyn Beazley AOprofessorLyn Beazley is a neuroscientist, educator and was Chief Scientist of Western Australia from 2006 to 2013. This role involved advising the Western Australian Government on science, innovation, and technology. She acted as an ambassador for science to the public. In 2011, she was inducted into the inaugural Western Australian Women's Hall of Fame. In 2014, Beazley was inducted into the Western Australian Science Hall of Fame, and was appointed as Sir Walter Murdoch Distinguished Professor of Science at Murdoch University. Prof Beazley received the Australian of the Year Award for 2015.

Annie Fogarty am EXECUTIVE CHAIRPERSONAnnie is the Executive Chairperson of the Fogarty Foundation since establishing it in 2000 with her husband Brettney. The Foundation provides educational opportunities to help build strong communities. Annie was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2013 for her work in the advancement of education in Western Australia. She is an Ambassador for the Commission for Children and Young People and Teach For Australia. She has received an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from the University of Western Australia and an Honorary Doctorate of Education from Edith Cowan University and in 2015 was acknowledged by ACEL (WA) as a Pre-Eminent Educational Leader.

Melinda Fitzgerald is Professor of Neurotrauma at Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute. Prof Fitzgerald participated in Homeward Bound 2016, an international leadership and strategy program for women scientists, run as an expedition to Antarctica, designed to increase the proportion of women in the higher levels of science. Participation in Homeward Bound is enabling Prof Fitzgerald to increase the level at which she can contribute to finding treatments for neurotrauma. In addition she is working towards improving gender equity by coordinating mentoring programs and Chairing the ARC Centre for Integrative Brain Function Gender Equity and Diversity Committee, and she co-founded the Australasian Women in Neuroscience Facebook page.

Dr Sandy Chong is a multi-award-winning consultant and Founder of Verity Consulting who graduated with a PhD in Information Systems in 2003. With over 15 years experience working in international growth and strategic expansion, Sandy has advised over 200 firms internationally and is an active contributor in education and entrepreneurship for youths and women. Winner of the US Stevie Awards for Women in Business (2017), Singapore Management Consultant of the Year (2015) and WA State Government's Multicultural Recognition for Outstanding Individual Achievement, and Outstanding Volunteer (2016), Sandy is passionate about driving business performance with social impact. She was elected the Vice-President of the United Nations Association of Australia in WA in 2016 and has recently been is appointed as Global Ambassador for the Inspiring Rare Birds, an Australian enterprise that promotes female entrepreneurship worldwide.
